Chapters 18–33 comprise the bulk of Hillenbrand’s biography and deal specifically with the harsh years Louie Zamperini spent in various POW camps in Japanese territories. On Kwajalein Island, Louie was imprisoned in a solitary, dirty, wooden cell infested with maggots, flies, and.
